You can now order food on Google without a delivery app

Effective today, May 23, 2019, you can now order food directly from Google Search, Google Maps, or Google Assistant. Google now lets you order food with existing delivery companies such as DoorDash, Postmates, ChowNow, and others. You can place an order without having to download an additional app, or even visit their website.

The functionality works in Google search and Maps through a new “Order Online” button. The button appears when you search for a supported restaurant.

The functionality further allows you to choose between pickup and delivery and select which service you want to order your food through.

If the restaurant supports it, your ordering selections are all made entirely through Google’s interface and Google Pay.

It works in a similar way using Google Assistant on iOS and Android phones.

This is the latest of restaurant-related features that Google has recently added to its apps and services.
