A California megachurch pastor committed suicide on Monday night, Church officials announced.
Jarrid Wilson, who once spoke openly about his battle with depression, was a pastor with the Harvest Christian Fellowship Church in Riverside California.
“Jarrid also repeatedly dealt with depression and was very open about his ongoing struggles,” senior pastor Greg Laurie wrote Tuesday on the church’s blog.
“He wanted to especially help those who were dealing with suicidal thoughts. Tragically, Jarrid took his own life”, Laurie wrote.
The circumstances surrounding his apparent suicide were not immediately released, but hours before his death on Monday, Wilson took to Twitter to share his struggles with mental health. He wrote;
“Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure suicidal thoughts,” Wilson tweeted on Monday. “Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure depression.”
“Sometimes people may think that as pastors or spiritual leaders we are somehow above the pain and struggles of everyday people,” Laurie wrote. “We are the ones who are supposed to have all the answers. But we do not.”
Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure suicidal thoughts.
Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure depression.
Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure PTSD.
Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure anxiety.
But that doesn’t mean Jesus doesn’t offer us companionship and comfort.
He ALWAYS does that.

Jarrid and his wife, Juli, founded an outreach to help people dealing with depression and suicidal thoughts called “Anthem of Hope,” said Laurie.
Jarrid Wilson, 30, joined the church as an associate pastor in early 2018.
Wilson, who has over 71,000 Instagram followers, and authored several books including “Jesus Swagger”, is survived by his wife, Juli, his two sons, Finch and Denham, his mother, father, and siblings.
“I love you forever, Thomas jarrid Wilson, but I have to say that you being gone has completely ripped my heart out of my chest”, his wife Juli posted on Instagram Tuesday. “You loved me and our boys relentlessly and I am forever grateful that i had YOU as a husband and a father to our boys”.
“YOU WERE an ANTHEM OF HOPE to everyone, baby, and I’ll do my best to continue your legacy of love until my last breath”, Juili added.
