The hopes of three Nigerian men who wanted to travel to Europe were dashed when the ship they sneaked into brought them only as far as Ghana’s port of Tema in West Africa. They were arrested by Ghanaian authorities, local media reported.

Investigations reveal that the three men sneaked into an MV Unity vessel from Apapa Port in Nigeria which was apparently heading to neighboring country Ghana, but they thought it was going to Europe.

The suspects who hoped to arrive Spain in search of greener pastures were identified as Isaac Daniel 32, Stephen Nuta 28 and Kelvin Popoola 26.

One of the suspects, Isaac Daniels, was later identified as a serial stowaway who was arrested in 2019 for similar offense. He was deported to Nigeria then with some $600 (N217,500) package, officials told the media.

Stoaways disembarking at the Tema port has become a constant event with Tunisians and Ghanaians being arrested at the Tema port in the recent years.
