Nigerian civil servant smuggles brother’s name on govt payroll, takes salary for 11 years while brother struggles

The Niger state police command in Nigeria have arrested a senior civil servant for smuggling his brother’s name on federal authorities payroll for 11 years, native media reported.

Mohammed (*11*) was arrested in Minna, Niger State after being discovered to have positioned his brother’s name within the federal civil service payroll, since 2009.

The perpetrator, a civil servant with the Ministry of Health was reportedly taking his brother’s salary for about 11 years till the bubble burst on Tuesday, August 1, 2020.

He even made preparations to efficiently promote his brother a number of occasions, from Grade Level 10 to Grade stage 14.

The two brothers, Mohammed (*11*) and Tanimu (*11*) have been arrested by the police.

Mohammed (*11*) has confessed to the crime, in response to the report

(*11*) confirmed that he fraudulently employed his brother on grade stage 10 in 2009 and subsequently promoted him thrice to grade stage 14 until date.

The suspect could be charged to court docket as quickly as investigation is concluded, Police stated.
