Paraguayan Argentine soccer star Raul Bobadilla caused a controversy on Wednesday while playing for Guarani football club in his homeland, Paraguay.

The 33-year-old former Borussia Monchengladbach and Augsburg striker, scored a dramatic late goal to secure a 3-2 aggregate cup win for his team over Libertad.

Shortly after scoring the goal, the elated striker ripped off his shirt and GPS vest in wild jubilation before lowering his shorts.

The referee ignored it at that time, but social media images later surfaced showing Bobadilla had exposed part of his penis.

He tried to laugh it off afterward, saying: “I regret my celebration. I hope my wife didn’t see it. “She should remain calm. It’s all for her.”

Unfortunately, Paraguay’s Football Association did not share the same laugh with him after they saw the images online. The APF, Paraguay’s FA, has reportedly opened an inquiry into the shameful incident.

“We have begun official proceedings, as we didn’t receive any written complaints or anything from the referee”, APF official Raul Prono reportedly said.

“We got information from the internet, newspapers, and tapes, and they led us to this inquiry”.

“We have notified Raul Bobadilla, and he has three days in which to appeal,” the official added.

Bobadilla was first exposed to European fans in 2013 after he helped Basel win the Swiss title. In 2015, he nearly secured a £5million transfer to Hull City in England but the deal did not materialize.

Bobadilla’s parents are from Paraguay, but he was born and raised in Argentina. He represents Paraguay at international level, making his senior debut in 2015. He currently plays as a striker for Club Guaraní on loan from Argentinos Juniors.
