The Kebbi State Police Command in Nigeria has mentioned that the automobile used to kidnap college students from Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi on Thursday, belonged to a state high court judge.
The van was seized by bandits on Birnin Yauri highway, in accordance to Kebbi police spokesman Nafi’u Abubakar. He denied stories that the van belonged to the police.
According to Abubakar, the variety of pupils taken from the varsity within the state’s Ngaski LGA has but to be decided.
He claimed that rumors that fifty college students had been kidnapped from the varsity have been unfaithful.
“The attention of the police has been drawn to reports made by some media stations that a police vehicle was used in kidnapping about 50 students of the FGC,” he mentioned.
The command mentioned Hilux was the automobile used within the kidnapping assault and never a police van as alleged within the mentioned reports.
“A White Hilux Van with registration No. kBSJ 29 belonging to a High Court judge with inscription of Kebbi State Judiciary, hijacked by bandits on Birnin Yauri highway was the one used within the kidnapping and never a police automobile as said by some media stations.
“The command wishes to make it clear and set the records straight that yet to be ascertained number of students are still missing as rescue operation is still ongoing.”
Abubakar mentioned the police will proceed to replace the media on the scholars’ rescue operations.
