Disqualification of C’River Senatorial candidate: LP seeks stay-of-execution, files appeal

The Labour Party has utilized to the Federal High Court in Abuja for keep of execution of the judgement which disqualified their candidate for Cross River Southern Senatorial district, Mr Daniel Asuquo.

The celebration in an announcement signed by its State chairman, Ambassador Ogar Osim and launched Wednesday night, mentioned they have been able to proceed to the Appeal Court to appeal the High Court judgement.

Hon Daniel Asuquo, popularly often known as Dansuki, represented the Akamkpa/Biase federal constituency within the House of Representatives for 12 years.

Justice A.R. Muhammed presided over the courtroom which nullified the primaries performed in Calabar by the Labour Party for the Cross River State Southern Senatorial District.

The courtroom disqualified Asuquo and ordered his rapid delisting as a candidate by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Former commissioner for finance within the State, Asuquo Ekpenyong jnr., who’s the APC candidate for a similar senatorial seat, had dragged the LP candidate to courtroom over allegation that the LP didn’t comply with due course of in conducting the senatorial major.

Reacting, Osim disagreed with the High Court judgement, arguing that they complied with all the necessities and processes.

He defined that, “Asuquo duly resigned from his former celebration. His resignation letter was duly printed and extensively circulated.

“He formally approached our celebration and formally registered at his native ward according to the celebration’s structure.

“I also want to confirm that our party also followed due process in the conduct of the primary election which produced Hon Daniel Asuquo as our candidate for the Cross River Southern Senatorial District election.”

According to the LP chairman, the safety companies, INEC officers and celebration dignitaries from the nationwide headquarters have been current throughout the major election.

He asserted that co-contenders from different events for the Senatorial seat have been scared of the recognition of their candidate who has spent 12 years within the inexperienced chambers, representing the Akamkpa/Biase federal constituency.
