Suspected cultist nabbed with firearm in Ogun

The police in Ogun State mentioned they’ve arrested a “notorious member” of the dreaded Eiye confraternity, Olamide Olabode.

Police mentioned Olamide was apprehended “on his way to launch an attack with other members of his group.”

The suspect, DAILY POST learnt, was arrested on October 23, 2022, on the Oke-Iganmu space of Ilaro/Papalanto highway, by the patrol group from the Ilaro division.

While on routine patrol of the world, the police group had sighted the suspect and two others on a bike.

The Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, mentioned the arrested suspect, who sat on the again, “quickly jumped down from the motorcycle and ran into the bush with a bag.”

According to Oyeyemi, the policemen went after him and bought him arrested, whereas the opposite two sped off with the bike.

Searching the bag, Oyeyemi defined that two locally-made shotguns, 4 dwell cartridges, one knife and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp had been discovered therein.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed being a leading member of Eiye cult group, and that they were heading to Agodo village for an operation,” he mentioned.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Lanre Bankole, directed the rapid switch of the suspect to the anti-cultist unit of the State CIID for a discreet investigation.
