Varsity don, two MAPOLY students abducted along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A police officer was killed on Friday when some unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers blocked the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The kidnappers ultimately went away with a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor on the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Professor Adigun Agbaje, and two students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, one in all whom was recognized as Miss Oluwatobi Orekoya.

DAILY POST gathered that the abductors have since contacted the households of their victims, demanding N50 million for the discharge of Professor Agbaje, whereas the dad and mom of the two MAPOLY students had been requested to pay N10 million ransom.

Agbaje, stated to be on sabbatical on the Ogun State-owned Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, was returning to Ibadan round 6 pm when he was ambushed.

It was learnt that the incident occurred close to Sat Guru Maharaji Garden on the Ibadan highway.

The President of MAPOLY Student Union Government, Damilola Ajani, confirmed the incident, begging the general public for monetary help and prayers in the direction of the discharge of the abducted students.

Contacted, the Oyo State police spokesman, Adewale Osifeso, additionally confirmed the incident, saying “an officer attached to the Oyo command paid the supreme price with another badly injured” of their try to have interaction the gunmen.

Osifeso added that expended ammunition shells and 4 automobiles deserted on the scene have been retrieved.

He added that the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams, has ordered full-scale investigations into the incident.
