Ahead of the deadline of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, cashless coverage, suspected Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP, members have reportedly distributed some big sums of old naira notes to commuters in the Lake Chad Basin.
According to Information Gathered, the incident reportedly occurred over the weeknd alongside the Maiduguri/Monguno freeway after Mairari village in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.
The ISWAP members had been said to have pushed two gun vehicles and dressed in army camouflage. A resident in the realm, Bakura Ibrahim, said the insurgents positioned themselves under a tree and stood by the roadside with baggage of old naira notes,
Another source added that the group merely told them to go to banks and alter the cash to new notes.
