France Under-21 manager Thierry Henry has expressed concern over midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu’s lack of game time under Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino this season.

Ugochukwu has barely featured in the Premier League for Pochettino’s side this term.

The young midfielder joined Chelsea from Stade Rennais in August for a fee in the region of £25 million but has managed just 140 minutes in the Premier League under Pochettino.

The likes of Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Cono Gallagher are already strongly established as Pochettino’s first-choice midfielders ahead of Ugochukwu, who was recently selected by Henry in his latest squad, along with Lyon’s Johann Lepenant, who is also struggling at his club.

“Johann’s situation is increasingly worrying,” Henry said in a press conference transcribed by L’Équipe.

“For us, he continues to be more than good and we will continue to help him on a physical level whilst he is on international duty, but it is up to him and his entourage to solve the problem with Lyon.”

Speaking on Ugochukwu, Henry added, “The problem is the same with Lesley.”
