The Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Saturday defeated Benin Republic 2-1 in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Durban on Saturday to go top of group C ahead of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Percy Tau gave Bafana the perfect start as he opened the scoring in the 2nd minute before Khuliso Mudau made it 2-0 for the home side before the end of the first half.
Benin Republic led by former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr pulled a goal back through Steve Mounie with 20 minutes left to play but could not find the equaliser.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles who arrived in Rwanda on Saturday morning will face Zimbabwe on Sunday, by 2pm following Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Lesotho.
