Afrobeat music producer and artist Pheelz revealed how a tweet from Rema changed his life.

During an interview on Moni Talks via YouTube, Pheelz spoke about the pivotal moment that shifted his career path. Pheelz began his career as a music producer by mentoring under renowned Nigerian musician ID Cabasa.

Pheelz recounted his journey from apprenticing with ID Cabasa to establishing himself as a hitmaker in the Afrobeats scene. He also spoke about collaboration with Usher and Olamide.

Pheelz disclosed that it was during the COVID-19 pandemic that he decided to take a leap of faith. Reflecting on this period, Pheelz recalled encountering a tweet from Rema that catalyzed change in his life. He said, “Rema tweeted ‘the world is on pause for you to catch up,’ and I felt as though it was directed at me personally”.

Inspired by the tweet, Pheelz felt a stirring within him, compelling him to realize that he couldn’t afford to let his talents go to waste. “I kept telling myself I have to die empty,” Pheelz emphasized in the interview.

Pheelz has become one of the most prominent producers in Nigeria. He recently collaborated with Usher for his new album. Pheelz produced the song Burna Boy featured on Usher’s album, Homecoming. The album was released on February 9, 2024.

Pheelz contributed as both a featured artist and producer on Ruin, a track from Usher’s recent album, Homecoming. In an interview on Apple Music Halftime Show, Pheelz highlighted the collaboration as a significant milestone for Nigerian music, emphasizing the realization of dreams and the global reach of Nigerian musical talent.
