Eedris frivolities

Highly vocal activist and rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem has called on his colleagues in the music industry to review the type of songs they release.

He urged the young industry leaders to use their music and draw attention to the ills in the society as much as they use it to promote frivolities.

Eedris, who spoke during an interview with SRTV also blasted the younger generation of musicians for feeling they are isolated from the problems bedeviling Nigeria.

According to the ‘Jaga Jaga’ crooner, they are mainly capitalising on the labour of veterans like himself, for their selfish gains.

He emphasised the need for them to use their platforms to fight against societal ills because even if they are capable of fleeing the country when crisis erupts, their family members will be left behind.

Abdulkareem said; “The younger generation of [Nigerian] musicians are not ready. They are just there to capitalise on what we worked for and make money for themselves. They are very selfish people.

“They feel they and their family have Visas to flee the country if crisis arises but they should remember that their extended family members don’t have Visas. They will all die here. So, don’t be selfish. Use your music to talk about ills in the society as much as you are using your music to promote frivolities.”
